The crew spent the last 4 days making the move to our new studio. Thanks to everyone that helped make the transition smooth. We still have some organizing to do, but let us know if you want to come over and check out the new space. We love it, especially our hammock.
In our travels around the globe we get to meet more than our share of interesting people and the subject of this image is no exception. Cale Buhr has the the quiet confidence of someone who’s been to the edge and came back-literally. A little over a year ago Cale’s heart stopped during a track and field competition and he was shocked back to life by speedy EMT’s. Now he sports a wonderful tattoo that I couldn’t help but ask him to pose with for a portrait.
We’ve reached another milestone at the studio. Two years straight of posting a photo each day to our Posterous Picture Log. This image Geoff captured in Paris represents image number 730. We hope you enjoy the lonely hero’s that we’ve shared. There are a lot of images that get lost in the abyss of the archives, but this gives us a way to share a few of those images we capture.
I got to meet the crew at Greenstreet Cycles and they graciously let me capture their space and faces. If you’re a cyclist or in the market for a bike, the Greenstreeters can keep you running or find two wheels to get you rolling. They also do some rides around town if you want to join their bike gang. Nicest people you’ll meet and full of cycle knowledge. Here are a couple more shots inside the cool space they call home.
Zac Triemert of Lucky Bucket Brewery and Solas Distillery
Most of you know the real magician of the studio is Kate and why we don’t shine the light on her more often via the blog is probably because her magic touches every picture and every video frame. But really, we should let you all behind the curtain a little more often. Andrew shot Zac Triemert of Solas Distillery and Lucky Bucket Brewery for the upcoming cover of ONE. Click the link below to see a short slide of Kate’s magic.
Many of you know that my wife Anne teaches French and every couple years she ventures with students across the Atlantic. This time I came along and our journey began on Wednesday with short time in Paris and then we headed east towards the Alsace-Lorraine region of France.
I brought along the Canon 45 TS-E (tilt-shift) lens for some experimenting. The studio has a 24mm t/s, but this longer focal length is a bit different and I’m loving the results. This just might have to go on my list to purchase. Check out the gallery for a few more images from atop Notre Dame de Strasbourg.
I cut together some test footage from a sweet new little HD camera my buddy Andy Stoll turned me on to called the Go Pro. It’s tiny, but that’s its advantage because you can put it about anywhere. There’s no LCD screen, but it’s got a wide lens and you can mount it any where as well as get it wet. The water housing holds up pretty well in the waves, but I was nervous about the suction cup mount holding on the side of the boat. We already have a long list of cool things we want to shoot with this, now to make the time to do it.
