January 10, 2012 7:32pm was a game changer. Adrianne and I welcomed Eleanora Kathryn into the world. We thought we knew what we were in for, but it has been even better than anything we could have imagined. Staring at her and listening to her make little baby noises has become our new favorite past time. Baby snuggles are the best.  Special thanks to Kate for making Eleanora look so good!

Over the past year….we have learned a lot about ourselves, refined our craft, honed our vision as a team and have developed even more amazing relationships with new and existing clients.

2011 was a busy year here at Malone & Company, always different projects to stay busy with on top of events happening in our personal lives.

It was especially busy for a few of us….Chris & Natalie got married, Andrew & Adrianne are expecting a newborn any day now and Geoff & Anne tackled a new home renovation.

As always, lots of time spent out on the road. Our equipment cases were packed and re-packed a few times, with more than 475,000 miles traveled between the 5 of us.

We’re all excited for what the future holds!

Our clients are continually finding new and cool ways to use video to communicate complex information. T.Rowe Price wanted to help their customers get a handle on IRS reporting changes for 2012 and figured a series of videos would be beneficial, especially for visual learners. The Malone & Co crew teamed up with animation heavyweights Caleb Coppock and Cale Oglesby to produce three short graphic driven videos. You can see how T.Rowe Price has integrated the videos into their site here.

The country, not what you ate last week. I was fortunate to tag along on one of my wife’s work trips and make a photo expedition out of the adventure. If you haven’t been, Turkey is a must see. Istanbul is filled with history and amazing culture. We got but a brief taste during our short stay. We did have some of the finest tasting eats thanks to my wife’s boss, who is Turkish, and helped us find some of the best local dishes. (Mouth watering thinking about it). Enjoy a few favorites here.

Mustache season is upon us once again here at Malone & Co. November as we know it has been replaced with Movember, a nationally known charity event that takes place all month long that raises funds and awareness for men’s health.

After a solid month of growth, some of us don’t have as much to show as the others (especially me, being the youngest crew member).

I was still carrying around the iPhone 3S up until a couple weeks ago when the 4S launched.  Besides all the speed improvements- the camera blows me away!  I normally lug around my dslr when traveling, but I thought I would put the new 4S 8 megapixel camera to the test on a recent trip to Chicago.  I was blown away with the HDR (High Dynamic Range) capabilities and file quality that the iPhone 4S is producing.  Crazy to think that the chip in this camera phone is bigger than the sensor of my first digital camera.  My personal point and shoot camera broke recently so the iPhone 4S camera just might keeps me from replacing it.

I give the camera two thumbs up, but you be the judge- check out some images from the trip.

We’ve been known to enjoy a beer around the studio, but it’s even better when we get a job to shoot beer. Chris and I spent part of a day at each of Upstreams two Omaha locations to capture the brewing process and help the beer drinkers understand a little bit more about the brewing process. Here are a few images from the day and Chris did a great edit on the footage. Thanks to Mike (brewmaster) and his crew for the top modeling and allowing us to sample a little of the product.

A busy farmers market turned into a squirt gun battle zone when the SPLASH MOB call was sounded in the Old Market. My neighbor Dan clued me in to the secret event. He runs Huevo, a breakfast burrito stand, at the downtown farmers market. His stand was the prefect staging area for the battle as it all went down a couple feet away. Thanks to Dan for providing two angles as I geared him up with two GoPro cameras- and two fully loaded squirt guns. I was able to get a third angle and stay dry. If you didn’t catch it live you can experience it without getting soaked, thanks to Dan.

Behind the scenes footage gets stored in the archives but every once in a while it gets loose.  Here’s a peak behind the scenes on a shoot for Big Brain, a tattoo shop in downtown Omaha. Props to Adam, of Good Twin, for hooking up great talent and locations to make for a solid shoot. Thanks to Smitty for the entertainment and keeping us feed and hydrated on set.  Chris, Patty and I put in some sweat on a couple hot days, but when we have fun on set it’s all good.
