The studio is gearing up and looking forward to Big Omaha 2012.  Here’s a promo spot we did to help get the buzz going for this year. The speaker list was huge last year with industry leaders like Shervin Pishevar, Sarah Lacy, Dan Martell, Neil Blumenthal, Marc Ecko, Bo Fishback, Gary Vaynerchuk, Micah Baldwin, Philip Kaplan, David Hauser and Leila Janah.  Can’t wait to see what the crew at Silicon Prairie News is cooking up for this year!

I hauled some gear home with a couple ideas for a story about kid Marink- I put my girls to work doing a little acting.  It’s a case of having all these idea’s swimming around in my head- and I have to get the camera out and start shooting to see what comes out.

The song is one Adrianne’s grandfather used to sing to her and I hope Eleanora will hear it quite a few times as she grows up.  It’s amazing how fast my child has become that spark that can so easily put a smile on my face and it really does feel like I’ve caught a moment in the sun.

For this year’s JDRF Fund A Cure gala we shared the story of Daron Smith and his struggles with Type 1 diabetes. In past years we featured children’s stories but this year was from the perspective of  an adult living with T1D. Not only does Diabetes effect his own life but the life of his 9 year old son and others that come in contact with him.  For most of us who don’t have to struggle with a disease like this,  it is unimaginable what he goes through on a daily basis.

The crew from the Omaha Community Playhouse always brings the fun and creativity when we spend time together.  From the directors to the designers, actors, wardrobe and prop pros- they all contribute to make the promo shoots a success.  The Fantastics (now showing and also the longest running musical in history) got spiced up by the fabulous wardrobe crew and transformed into some steampunk.  Amanda, designer extraordinaire, added the  finishing touches to bring it all together in one place.

Often times the mornings can come and go in a rush. This morning I thought I would slow things down a bit.

I had some time this weekend to shoot a little piece that shows the details of a few common things that most of us overlook on our way out the door in the morning.

With much of the world still asleep, I ventured out into the crisp winter morning to capture the winter snow scape. There’s nothing quite like the sound of fresh snow under your boots, early on a weekend morning. Please enjoy the scenes from my peaceful morning with nature.

A follow up to a post I did a few months ago on Portraits of Philanthropy for the University of Nebraska Foundation.
The best part about this project is the time I get to spend with each of our subjects. Most often we’re photographing at their homes and they all

January 10, 2012 7:32pm was a game changer. Adrianne and I welcomed Eleanora Kathryn into the world. We thought we knew what we were in for, but it has been even better than anything we could have imagined. Staring at her and listening to her make little baby noises has become our new favorite past time. Baby snuggles are the best.  Special thanks to Kate for making Eleanora look so good!

On recent trip to Kauai I stripped my camera gear down to the bone and shot nearly everything with my iPhone 4S. The best camera is almost always the one you have with you and considering the iPhone is nearly an appendage for me it seemed to make sense to document the trip with the 4S.

Over the past year….we have learned a lot about ourselves, refined our craft, honed our vision as a team and have developed even more amazing relationships with new and existing clients.

2011 was a busy year here at Malone & Company, always different projects to stay busy with on top of events happening in our personal lives.

It was especially busy for a few of us….Chris & Natalie got married, Andrew & Adrianne are expecting a newborn any day now and Geoff & Anne tackled a new home renovation.

As always, lots of time spent out on the road. Our equipment cases were packed and re-packed a few times, with more than 475,000 miles traveled between the 5 of us.

We’re all excited for what the future holds!
